Our Story

Shari Reffsin is a laser focused, client driven, deeply analytic, tell you what you need, women empowering, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, a certification that is the standard of excellence for financial planners.

She is the founder of Reffsin Financial, a full-service advisory firm specializing in financial planning for women in transition and those going through divorce, or have become widowed, or are experiencing a career change.

Shari Reffsin is also a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA®), the type of advisor you want to add to your divorce team. As a CDFA she is divorce specialist who believes that by empowering women through education and knowledge, they can reach true financial independence. 

Her most fulfilling engagements have come from women who have gotten too much advice, don’t know who to trust, all the while knowing they deserve better, but just don’t know how to get there.

Shari is committed to making her clients feel in control and confident about their finances by eliminating their fear of the unknown. And because of all the work they have put in beforehand, she makes sure they are ready for any challenge.

Shari Reffsin holds FINRA Series 6, 7, and 63 securities registrations with Commonwealth Financial Group, and life and health insurance licenses. She is Certified in Long-Term Care and holds the Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certifications. She received both a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in business from Pace University.  She is a member of the Association of Divorce Financial Planners, Rockland Women’s Business Network, Bergen County Professional Women’s Network, and is Past President of the Estate Planning Council of Rockland County. She has also served on the boards of multiple local not-for-profit organizations.

Lorianne Rivas

Financial Advisor

Lorianne Rivas joined the firm as a Financial Planning Assistant in January 2021, bringing with her over ten years experience in the financial services industry. Lorianne is passionate about financial planning, helping friends and family with budgeting and debt management. She is committed to providing clients with the best possible experience. Lorianne received a B.A. in Psychology from Hofstra University and has a Certificate in Financial Planning from New York University. Lorianne has her FINRA Series 7 and 66 licenses. and has recently met all the requirements to become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER ™ practitioner, as she recently passed her CFP® exam

Toni James

Financial Planning Assistant

Toni James joined Reffsin Financial as an Administrative Assistant in February 2022. She has a B.A. in Business Administration from Towson University with a focus on financial planning and accounting. At Towson, she was a member and VP of Women in Finance Group and worked as a financial planning intern at Securian Capital of the Chesapeake. After graduation, she began her career in the insurance industry and is licensed in New Jersey Life, Accident and Health insurance. Her goal is to focus on client service and expanding her knowledge of financial planning.
